OUR PRODUCTS

Granulated Slag (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag, GGBFS)

  Definition
Granulated slag is an inert, glassy, granulated material obtained by rapidly cooling molten blast furnace slag with water or steam. When finely ground, it exhibits cementitious properties and can partially replace Portland cement.

   Applications

   Cement industry:

Active mineral additive to cement, improving strength and durability.
Key component in Portland cement type **CEM III** according to **EN 197.
   Concrete production:

     Enhances long-term strength.
     Improves frost resistance.
Reduces heat generation during hardening, making it ideal for massive structures.
     Road construction**:

     Provides higher load-bearing capacity.
     Increases resistance to freeze-thaw cycles.
   Other uses:

Serves as a substitute for natural sand in insulating and filling applications.

  Steel / Metallurgical Slag

   Definition
Metallurgical slag is a by-product of iron- and steelmaking processes. Its composition depends on the raw materials and processes, but typically contains calcium, silicon, aluminum, iron, manganese, and phosphorus compounds.

   Types of Metallurgical Slag

Air-cooled slag – dense, stone-like material obtained by natural cooling.
Granulated slag – cooled rapidly with water, forming granules suitable for cement additives.
Expanded (foamed) and pelletized slag – lightweight, porous materials used in specific construction applications.

   Applications

    Road construction:

Used as crushed stone in asphalt mixes and road base layers due to high load and abrasion resistance.
    Railway infrastructure:

Applied as ballast and subgrade material.
    Cement and concrete production:

Granulated slags are ground and used as additives to reduce clinker content.
    Agriculture and soil improvement:

Enhances soil structure and regulates pH.
Can supply calcium, magnesium, and other trace elements.
    Sustainable development:

     Reduces demand for natural aggregates.
Decreases CO₂ footprint of cement and concrete production.

✅ Key Difference:

Granulated slag (GGBFS) – specifically produced for use as a cement additive, highly valued for its reactivity and             cementitious properties.
General metallurgical slags – broader category with diverse uses (construction, agriculture, aggregates), not always

     reactive as cement.
